Put the one in for the mileage display and it didnt work,tried the usual of turning it round,stil nothing,so i put the origional bulb back in and now it doesnt work,the mileage is extremely faint. hellllp! G. Posted May 22, 2018. It's almost certainly a failure of the door open switch which is perhaps not surprising as the driver's door gets vastly more use. On the early Focus models the switch was mounted on the door frame next to the latch striker plate and protected by a corrugated rubber boot. This was superseded on later models by a switch Lower steering. Remove bottom trim for cluster. Remove 2 x T20 screws at bottom of cluster. Use a plastic wedge and slide between the top of the cluster , there are normally 2 metal clips and pull forward. Unclip plug at the rear of the instrument cluster. With a full tank of fuel it said 515 miles to empty, the average read 8mpg!
