Welcome to the forum. The 750 should be your best bet for your starter bike. My 750 is my fourth bike and aside from wanting more power it fits me well and I'm happy. I'm 5'6" so forwards for you should be put on. Have fun.
This may not be your problem, but next time it will crank but won't start try this test. Try jump starting it with a car battery (car engine not running). My dumb self bought a brand new bike for my first. 2023 Honda Rebel 500 SE. A new Rebel 500 is one of the best first bikes you can get. +1. I came so close to getting one for my first, but COVID hit and got a shit box shadow 750 and wrenching it back to shape during lockdown. I think starting out with bikes you need to wrench on is an awesome

11 posts · Joined 2007. #21 · Apr 7, 2007. i am in the same boat as you pretty much. today i sat on a bunch of bikes ranging from 500-750cc. my personal thoughts is that 750 would be too much bike. you can go just as fast on a 600 and have less chance of pulling a wheelie when you dont want to. Longest day trip so far has been about 200 mi. To me it feels good but I have such little experience. I'd like to venture into some longer rides.

The idea with a small, powerless bike is that the bike itself can't get the rider into trouble. A heavy 1100 is not an ideal beginner bike by a long shot. It's survivable, but it's still not recommended. A light 250 is better. But not everyone prioritizes these things that way, and to each his own.
